Bok Tower Gardens was built between 1927 and 1929 by the editor of of Ladies Home Journal, Edward Bok. It was originally built as a bird sanctuary but expanded to included various gardens showcasing native Florida flora. As the centerpiece of the gardens is the Singing Tower, named for its bells that ring 15 after every hour. After Edward Bok died in 1930, his body was interred at the base of the tower.
